Head(er)s up!

So once again we had to take a three day weekend in order to get two days to work on our camp.  Saturday was already booked up, and had been a beautiful day.  For Sunday storms were predicted most of the day; but we really need to get things done so we went up even with the weather being iffy.

We lucked out.  Although it looked awful, everything kept blowing over us as clouds, then dumping tons of rain back towards home.  We brought all three boys, and Number One Son was especially valuable lifting headers into place - a third person makes that go very quickly; where when we had put headers on the basement posts it was a lot tougher with just the two of us.

In addition, the boys carried all the headers, etc up from the walkout basement to the first floor, and sorted through the "small parts bin" for the pieces for the upcoming wall framing.

Our camp next-door neighbors kept us posted on the weather radar, and cooked us a huge and thoroughly yummy dinner for when we were ready to knock off for the night.  It rained a little while we were eating dinner.  It rained a lot overnight, and our tent locations were not, to put it bluntly, ideal.  Luckily there was only a little lightning, but most of the sleeping bags ended up damp to drenched.  But, after going out for breakfast on monday we continued on:  Both side wall headers are up, and next week is the center post headers and the ones across the front and back.

We have some good pictures this time:

I knew there was a reason we had a lefty - Number One Son gets elected to nail the corners

Pay no attention to the messy tarp and temp bracing - look at that lovely left wall!

Another view of our wall - both sides are done, but tarp blocks us from showing both together.
