Progress!!!!

OK, so last post had us returning to our day jobs after our "vacation".  Right before we left we spent some time covering the whole house with Shamu, the Great Blue Tarp:
No north side posts as yet...

Then, we had torrential rains during the week, and returned on Saturday to see everything still intact (yay!) but a few bathtubs worth of water:

So, we borrowed a garden hose from a neighbor and siphoned the extra water down the hill.  Since we didn't want to deal with the pain of fully removing/replacing the tarp on the weekend, we just folded it away from the area where we wanted to work on the posts.  And we didn't bother tacking it down over saturday night, since weather was supposed to be good.

Sunday, we came back with Numbers Two and Three Sons.  After we put a few more posts up, we decided to get the boys started on the floor.  We set up the first row of flooring, nailed in the corners, and set them loose:

The flooring was marked where all the nails go, so Two and I got nails started while Three used the nailer. This is not as dangerous as it sounds; it's not a nail gun, more of a powered hammer that only works when you push it down over a nail.

So in addition to the first kid participation milestone (beyond One's unloading), there are a few other things that have happened.  Our resident earthmover truck has migrated off to another job (it will be back to dig the septic at some point).  Before he drove it off, our excavator leveled our "back yard", which included moving the VW sized boulder yet again, and made a path into the woods for the well driller to use:

And then on his way out, he stomped down the driveway again, removing all the ruts that were preventing us from bringing the minivan (aka the rolling toolbox) all the way up next to the foundation.  So now we are up to the "fun" part of the assembly, and keeping our fingers crossed for good weather on the weekends this month!
