Garage door!

I just got a new camera and while trying to take pictures and not ruin it with my sticky hands, it somehow got stuck in "fisheye" mode and the colors are off.  I will figure that out for next time, in the meantime, please realize our camp did not develop a bulge in the middle : )

First off, our garage door was installed this week.  It's a great feeling to go up to the camp and discover someone else has done the work for a change.  Plus, it seems much more like a house now that we don't have to open that section up with a crowbar while working inside.  So here is the door:
Color is off; door is "chocolate" brown, which will look better when the walls are done

Also, we needed to work on our siding.  Last fall, we had put up almost all of the south face, before figuring out that with house wrap it is a much better idea to first stain the back of the siding to protect it from moisture before putting it up.  Oh, well, we aren't going to pull it down now; but for the rest, we decided to do it right.

Not wanting to spend major $ on stain no one will see; I visited some hardware stores and came up with some "oops" stains.  These are colors someone ordered then changed their minds on.  I think you can see why with this picture:

Can't imagine why this shade was returned; somewhere between Raw Liver and Pepto-Bismol...

We did a big stack of "backs" then went for a swim.  When we got back I flipped them over and started working on the front in the real color, while V2 drew the short straw and got to work on the south wall.  Besides lasting longer, it's a heck of a lot easier to stain siding that is still on the ground.  The translucent "cedar" stain is a light reddish color, and by the end of the afternoon, V2 looked as though he had spent the day trying to stuff an Oompah-Loompah in a blender.  But, the siding looks better (there is not that big a difference between the first few boards and the others, and it's not this red, my camera settings are off):

About time we stained the wall.. first few boards were a test and need to be re-coated...
So we are taking Father's Day off; but will be up next weekend, when if the weather gods cooperate, we may finally have a well!
