OMG it's hot!

We are working on putting up our main floor posts now.  Things started a bit slow yesterday, but today dawned with high expectations.  Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thing that was high.  We got two posts up, stopped for a swim to cool off a bit, and did a third.  By then it was 2pm and things were just unbelievably hot.  We drove back to our air conditioned rental for lunch and a siesta.  I checked the local weather online - the closest weather station, two miles from our site, was reporting a heat index of 126.  Yow!

We waited until 5pm, after the local heat index crept up to 132 and back to a relatively pleasant 114.  It actually felt noticeably cooler at the site, which is kind of sad.

However, we just didn't feel up to wrestling any more nine foot posts into position while standing on joists, so we spent a couple hours doing other prep work, etc.  Seven are up, eight to go.  Tomorrow we'll try again.  Humidity is still at 92% as I write this, but it's supposed to drop.

Our rental is up tomorrow so after the day at the site we'll just head back home.  We have some family stuff to deal with on saturday, but sunday looks pleasant so we'll try to finish up the posts and get to a good breaking point.

This is where the lost week between delivery and getting a foundation is really starting to hurt us.  We're just getting to the point where we can make more visible progress (sorry no pictures today my brain pretty much melted out there) and we'll have to head back to our day jobs.  Once the posts are in place we could do the main floor, then the loft headers and all the main floor walls.  But, since we have no more big block of time we'll be doing the rest as weekend warriors through the summer.
