Zero point one - rest, recuperation....and rain

So, after a lot of sleep and a late breakfast, we headed back over to the site.  We decided we had left the pile of beams too close to the path for the cement truck, and we also wanted the pieces we need first - the sills and such - to be on the top, where we can get to them easier.  The rush to get stuff out of the truck then out of the way had left them more in the middle of the last stack.
Turns out, after a good nights rest and not having just spent two hours carrying other big pieces of wood around, the posts are not that bad.  V2 and I were able to move them all ourselves - even the evil basement posts which are 2 feet longer than the rest (and the only items besides the gable siding that will need to be cut to fit).
So, we moved the entire pile of beams and the first floor joists and headers a bit further back.  That made the pile that stuck out the furthest the steel roof pieces - a big stack 4 feet wide and 20 feet long.  They were a bit too close to the parked excavator for our comfort.  We had just figured out a spot to move them to, moved one as a test, and decided we needed to scrounge up a couple more pieces of scrap wood to support it when it started raining again.  So, we reset the tarps and headed back to the rental.  The rain stayed light for a few hours, but as I write this it’s coming down pretty heavy.
Our excavator had dug out the footings and lined with gravel - fingers crossed it doesn’t (a) fill in like a swimming pool, or (b) collapse.  Its pouring like mad right now, but seems to be lightening up a bit, so I’m hoping we’ll be okay.  Honestly the way this spring and summer has gone, maybe we should just use our big stacks of lumber to build an ark.
So, tomorrow we just need to move our steel roofing pieces over to be all ready for the cement trucks on Tuesday, weather permitting.  Wish us luck!
