So today our second truckload of house bits came. Although it was a lot more manageable than last time (didn't end with 21 6x6 posts) it was still a lot. of. stuff.
Fortunately, we had a lot more going for us:
- we had an actual foundation in which to stack everything
- The driveway wasn't muddy, so the truck actually got within 15 feet of our foundation, instead of 50 feet downhill
- we had a larger unload crew
- there were no really long ungainly things like 20 ft long steel roof sections or giant cubes of tiny parts.
So, we started off a bit worried since the truck showed up at 7:30, not 8. But by 8 our full crew had arrived: us, Eric, Greg, Peter, and Matt. Unloading went very smoothly, and exactly 2 hours later our truck drove off. Most of the crew left after a while, but Peter stayed to help. That was great, as we made solid progress most of the day, finishing with actually putting a few joists in place. (They aren't yet squared and nailed in, but I just had to get a picture anyways). So, things are on track and all that time we had to spend at the beginning trying to make sure everything was properly set up was well spent.
Of course, more rain is predicted for Monday, but we're hoping we can get more photo-worthy milestones before next week when our alleged vacation ends and we have to go back to our day jobs...

| Finding windows at the back of the truck is a big improvement over finding ten foot posts. |
